CASE STUDY


The Company:
CE Electric UK is a wholly owned subsidiary of MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company who has operating revenues totalling $12.4 billion. CE Electric UK is in the electricity distribution business and operates through its subsidiary companies Northern Electric Distribution (NEDL) and Yorkshire Electricity Distribution (YEDL), delivering electricity to 3.7 million customers in the North East of England, Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire.

The Challenge:
CE Electric UK faced a number of challenges in the management of their telecom operations and related business efficiencies. The key objective was to select an advanced voice management solution to provide them with the automated tools to:
• reduce the cost of fixed and mobile telecoms
• create centralised reporting
• improve customer service
• enhance staff productivity
• alert on security breaches.

The Solution:
One solution now optimises 7000 extensions and 1600 mobiles for CE Electric. Soft-ex Optimiser has resulted in significant cost savings in a number of areas, including the detection of inefficient call routing; call fraud; identification of expensive voice conferencing; and quality of service issues. Excessive mobile costs, usage and the associated administration have also been identified as key areas for improvement.
