Ian is President and CEO of WidePoint’s subsidiary, Soft-ex Communications Ltd. He is a performance-driven Chief Executive with extensive corporate experience and a strong track record of delivering results in a wide variety of international business environments. Prior to his role as CEO, Ian held the positions of Chief Commercial Officer and CFO at Soft-ex. He was also Group Financial Controller at a large public quoted (LSE) European Industrial Holding Company and worked in assurance for a number of years with PricewaterhouseCoopers. In addition, he has acted as a Board Advisor to a number of internationally traded Irish companies.
Ian is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University College Dublin and additional business qualifications from the Smurfit Business School. He also holds a Diploma in International Selling from Dublin Institute of Technology. With a keen interest in both Strategy and Leadership, Mr. Sparling is a guest lecturer for a number of MBA programs.
Gráinne is responsible for developing Soft-ex’s market strategy and enabling our global CSP & BSS partnerships. In this function, she also has responsibility for product management, corporate and product marketing and marcomms. Prior to joining Soft-ex, she was COO & Head of Global Marketing at Precision Software.
She holds a BA in International Marketing & Languages from Dublin City University, Ireland and a Diploma in BWL from Universität Bayreuth in Germany.
Ian graduated with a BSC in Electrical and Electronics and took his first step into Telecommunications with Mitel, where he worked in R&D on the first digital switches and moved through the organisation from Customer Support onto Sales supporting BT.
In his role as SVP Sales at Soft-ex Ian has responsibility for direct sales, partner sales and global sales for CPE & Hosted in EMEA with key clients such as BT, KPN, Telia & Ooredoo.
Frank is responsible for the development and innovation strategy for all Soft-ex solutions. In his role he also drives the Soft-ex technology roadmap and manages the development team. Frank holds a BSc (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and an MSc.
In his previous roles he has gained extensive knowledge and technical expertise in Interactive TV & Telecoms, working with client companies such AT&T, Verizon, BT, Deutsche Telecom & Swisscom.
David is responsible for managing and ensuring first class customer service in delivery and support of all Soft-ex solutions. David holds a BSc (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and an MBA – specialising in international business.
Previous roles include Director of Operations at Cable & Wireless in the Caribbean.
Fergus Cullen joined Soft-ex as Financial Controller in 2010. His primary role is to ensure Soft-ex has robust financial controls and complies with all Group/local reporting requirements. Following the acquisition by WidePoint Corporation, he is responsible for all financial reporting to the US.
Prior to joining Soft-ex he worked in Practice with PWC, Oracle EMEA and First Data Corporation. Fergus is a Chartered Accountant with a Commerce degree from University College Dublin.
